EDF insulation offer
11 Answers
Hi AB'ers, I'm with EDF as my energy supplier. They have sent by post a 'free insulation offer' for my home. It says nothing about any charge whatsoever, but do they hide additional stuff then land you with a bill? What's the catch? T.I.A

The government has provided grants for this sort of work, and now there are many companies all involved in the bun-fight to get the work and then apply for the grants.
danchip makes a good point.....make sure that there are *no* hidden costs, ours was a completely transparent transaction but, no doubt, there will be some firms who 'try it on'.
It certainly does no harm in getting someone to call round and discuss your options.
Good luck!

Update, phoned British gas on 22nd Nov.... still waiting for visit....... They called me last week to say I didn't qualify as I'd missed the 30th Nov deadline. They didn't realise I'd booked before that date and they had given me a reference booking number which is now with contractors. So it's to be honoured (we'll see). I'm not holding my breath...
