Think is we are British not European so it'll never work however much New Labour want us to loose our identity.
I think you need to take a closer look behind the scenes with this one.
On other threads you have referred to losing the rebate etc but there are clearly other factors involved.
The 1.2bn privatisation deal of the Hungarian National Airport to a British company for example. These kind of deals are massively influenced by politicians and have a great impact on both parties economies.
What you read in the papers and see on the news will never give you all the factors you need in these situations.
Frankly, the restof us are pretty sick of the Whinging some of you Brits do about Europe. We're heading for a Euro State, and most of us are looking forward to it - in fact, most Europeans already regard it as such.
The fact is, you need the EU more than it needs you. The rebate you get was given because Thatcher's Britain was heading straight down the plughole. All western nations are now net contributors to the EU, to try bring the Eastern countries up to our level of infrastructure, health, education etc.
I agree that the British should hold a vote on inclusion. And get out.
A politician said the other day that this is important for new EU members to increase their development.
Forgive my lack of Economics but why should I give a **** about their development when Tony B-liar is telling me that I should be prepared to work until I drop dead because after paying into the pension fund for 50 years there isn't enough funds to pay me a pension for the last five miserable years of my life.
I would like to know at what point the British became what they are today, I.E the stupidest most gullible people on earth.
If this post inflames you dear reader, then my day has not been wasted.
oh you lot - another day another pet hate and when in doubt blame Europe! I suspect venting your spleen on tinternet everyday is your chosen form of exercise, I can hear your poor hearts racing from here as you furiously type string um up, hang the under classes, hate the french, BACK OFF BRUSSELS, immigrant are all shifty dole spongers, TERRORISTS, gays are wrong, who stole my pension etc etc etc (veritas)
oh I give up this is a nice kiddy site setting out what the EC does, have a look around its all quite noble really and quite a good thing to be a part of in my humble opinion in fact I think Europe would be great IF IT WASNT FOR THE FRENCH!!!! (only saying it cos I want to be in the gang though Loosehead)

p.s. tell me who we are going to hate tomorrow and Ill make some badges or something what about students we havent done that in a while *bloody tax dodgers* or shall be just stick with people who are different (know what I meant .. wink wink)
Coyn, I don't think the people themselves are gullible and stupid, we generally see through to what's going on. Unfortunately we have a tendency to elect politicians who's main aim is either the distruction of UK (retrospectively if possible) or to boot lick the leaders of the EU in the hope of reserving a place on the gravy train. oh and it's 8000,000,000. probably more now!
Read your link Undercovers, nearly PMSL at the first line on the "Jobs and Prosperity" bit. "European Union leaders have pledged to make the EU the worlds most dynamic knowledge-based society with a competitive economy and a skilled workforce" right oh that's why we have a protectionist socialism that discourages enterprise and pays 40% of it's budget to the laziest sector of all, brilliant!
