Hi there I went to my GP who gave me a letter to take with me and has ordered me to take 2mg lorazepam at 8pm 4mg lorazepam at midnight and another 4mg at 6am so I will be completely out of it before I go in. My dad is driving me and taking me home after. I doubt that I will need anything else after that!! But I will ask for a canular in case they have to give me pain meds. Been told not painful just uncomfortable. I start preparation at 2pm tomorrow and fast from breakfast. I am feeling a lot better, thanks for all your support you must all think Im completely hysterical!! I am making a few you tube videos before and after to try and encourage people.

??? you are???
Well, I'm glad all the advice was of some use in the end.
I've got Crohns and have had this done quite a few times. would agree, they're not painful, more uncomfortable. you can watch it all on the screen if you stay awake, quite interesting if you're not squeamish. The nurses are usually lovely, The hospital i go to, assign you a nurse, who stays with you before, during and after, until you go home, and they do a wonderful job of calming you down and making you comfortable. If you've got your drink to clear you before you go.... it tastes much better with the addition of some lime cordial. Hospital recomended that to me. X All the best. hope it all goes ok. X

Good on you Gordie. Go for it.
I think you have a great idea there with the vid, seriously and no hur-hur jokes, as this is a very important health issue that kills people because they are embarrassed to get investigated. So make sure you post the link when it's up and running, and best of luck for tomorrow.
I have to confess that i was absolutely terrified before mine, simply because when i confirmed the date of mine with my doctors receptionist she said " Oh god they are awful, good luck!".

So when I got to the hospital I was in a right state. When taken into the room they saw how nervous I was and gave me sedative to relax me. i dont remember a thing until it was all over. Didnt feel a thing and was absolutely fine afterwards.
