Bend it

I have just seen Bend it Like Beckham and I found it absolutely 100% predictable. Other than tha fact that it had race/culture issues, it was exactly the same as a million other stories/films I have seen before. I was quite disappointed!

As you get older you realise that there are only so many themes that films (and TV shows) can follow. How many times have we seen Westerns where townsfolk live in fear of some baddies, a stranger rides into town and mobilizes the locals to fight back against the evil ones. Happens in boatloads of films. So you just have to go with the flow, enjoy the acting, the dialogue and the scenery etc. As Marvin the paranoid android says "Don't talk to me about life!"
I get very irritated if a film does not capture my imagination in the first twenty minutes. I howled with laughter with this in the cinema as I know people who are exactly like this and to see it on the screen was brilliant and the irony - don't forget the irony!! It was simple film that you did not have to think about plots and sub plots and think too much about. A good ol fashioned laughing film.
