Stupid Question?

Just had to have some blood tests, the nurse commented on how 'runny' my blood was and how it did'nt clot also that it seemed 'thin' in the syringe.

She suggested I make an appointment with my doc to discuss further. I hate wasting his time and have been there twice this week for other issues - is it worth making an appoitment or shall I just wait for my result returning?

Definitely make an appointment.
My sister has this, though I can't for the life of me think what it's called.
She had/has to take medication for it, so maybe you will have to, too.

Notice the word "seemed."

Are you on any medication and for what were the blood tests ordered?

tests were for diabetes (sp) and am on medication for depression and bladder issues

OK....nothing special comes to mind from those conditions and if you have no other symptoms of bleeding...heavy periods...bruising......nose bleeds, then i would n't worry.

Personally, I would make an appointment to get the results of your blood tests (which you would do anyway) and discuss the thin blood at that point. I cannot see that it is urgent enough to make two appointments, Helen.

The main reason for blood appearing 'thin' in the syringe is anaemia; failure to clot properly has many causes.
Tests needed to clarify this would be a FBC (full blood count) and clotting screen for a start.
If it was just a test for diabetes these tests would have been unlikely to have been done.
Of course this was all very subjective, and the nurse might have been mistaken.
No harm in ringing your GP to discuss it, as he/she may be able to order further tests without necessarily making an appointment, and also you could check whether a FBC was done.
