We got no hot water!! I have an emmertion heater (or whatever it is) it is on a timer to come on in the night. But the other day we woke up and the water was cooler than tepid. I've tried moving it on, switching it to an extra hour. It sounds like it's coming on (that hissing noise) but it doesn't heat up. Also it doesn't sound as loud as it used to, and it sounds a little like when you switch an empty kettle on. Whats going on?

now im not a plumber but could it be your pump? we have a switch in our kitchen that switches our pump on or off - I dont know why its there perhaps someone can explain -One morning we had no hot water and I remembered that I had been fiddleing with this switch the day before so I changed the position of the switch, the pump kicked in and shortly after that we had hot water again.
Your emmersion is like a large kettle element: perhaps it needs replacing.
