I take my hat off to all of you who have long since finished this crossword.

In my own defence, I have an 8 yr old and a husband who have sung a total of 8 services between 3.30 24/12 and 4.00pm 25/12 at Salisbury cathedral. After we finshed celebrating our christmas day on the 26th, I finally got around to looking at the crossword and I haven't even bought the Herculis as there is no way I'll get around to it!

I am stuck on 2

74d Small private door to large buildin such as castle p?s?e?n?

107a a long-stapled, hard-twisted cotton yarn l?s?e

I think the answer is LISLE but I always thought that was a rather fine yarn used for stockings

Thanks in anticipation.

74d Postern?

LISLE is correct
french spelling of postern has an E on the end !!

Sorry.

In too much of a hurry to reply!

Missed off the E

Careful - 74 down is not door but doorS - and is therefore posterns - hobbitess is correct as far as the clue given - there is NO extra 'E'
