I love his music, his care for animals plus his fight to save the badgers. But now I read this.

As I said, what a lovely man. Wish there were more rock stars like him.

The fact that he did this in secret is even more impressive. Easy to shout about charity...rather more classy to do it on the quiet.

sp Some very reputable companies do it (who belong to ships - safe home incomes plans) but you are racking up interest until the debt is settled of course.
I think Brian May, Brian Cox and other of PM's friends would like to see his home, Farthings at Selsey, turned into a museum. Be interesting to see if that happens.
I think it somewhat ammusing that Brian May is very cross about the Sunday Times releasing the details about this:

//However, the Queen guitarist is furious about the Sunday Times' report and has released an angry statement on his website.

It reads: 'Sir Patrick Moore is not even laid to rest yet, but I have just heard that The Sunday Times (yes, them again) have been sneaking around, like the carrion eaters they are, and are now about to "reveal" all the details they've managed to sniff out about how we, as Patrick's friends, helped him in his latter years, to stay functional in his own home to the very end.//

So just to help out there the Mail and the rest of the press have reprinted the story told everybody else about it and How cross May is with the ST!

Hoorah.

Only my second in as many years.

Thank you.
More cynicism alert:

Brian May is not a shy person. He is used to the adulation of tens of thousands of fans at his gigs. So why is he so angry that the Sunday Times have highlighted this generous act? It shows him in an extremely good light. All the posts on here (apart from mine) are saying what a great bloke he is. Why is he cross at that?

Is he because he did not want it flagging up with HMRC? Is that the reason he is cross?
Maybe he didn't want to advertise the fact that Patrick Moore needed a bit of financial help.

Trouble is some people don't recognise quality when they see it sp:-)

Gromit, dunno, don't care, fed up of arguing about it as you are determined not to see this as an altruistic act on Brian's behalf. Whatever his tax arrangements are, he did Patrick Moore, his long time friend, a kindness by ensuring he was able to stay in his much loved home until he died. May be he is now embarrassed for his friend that these facts have come out. Maybe he is just peed off with the newspapers. Maybe he doesn't want to be held up as some sort of saint. Or maybe you're right gromit, in which case he still did a good thing for Patrick didn't he?. As I said, I don't know but you could ask him yourself.
