I want to to New York for Thanksgiving day 2006, I say it is on Thurs Nov 23rd 2006. My friend says it is on the last Thursday of November which is 30th. My Ucle in America says the 30th but some websites say 23rd. Please help.

...Some additional information to clarify the answer above... in 1941, after some changes initiated by President Roosevelt, congress declared Thanksgiving as a national holiday. It was declared to be the fourth Thursday in November. This usually coincides with the date also being the last Thursday of November...

This seems to explain why people keep saying the 30th, because this is the last Thursday in November but it is not the fourth, it is in fact the fith. So it has to be the 23rd which is the fourth.
Another great parade in NYC is the St Patrick's Day parade usually the Sat near March 17th. route longer than Thanksgiving
