Switching energy suppliers?

Not sure where to post this so this will do, Does anyone switch from one electricity supplier to another if so what are the pitfalls to watch out for please.

The Pitfalls are finding yourself in an even bigger mess than you might be in now.
meters going unread, incorrect Bills, poor after sales service. Be careful as there are some Cowboys out there.
as far as I know, your existing supplier won't let you change if you owe them dosh.. However having said that, we've had pre-pay meters for 5 years and changed last year. We have since had bills/threatening letters say we owed them, replied that I'd see them in court. haven't heard a word since
British Gas have just announced that they are hiking Prices by 7% from next month.

While switching either gas or electricity, go for the utility provider who can supply you both and this will qualify you for dual fuel discount. Choose to manage your account online and pay by Direct Debit and you could benefit from even further discounts.

Mostly households moved either their gas or electricity to a new supplier when the energy industry was privatized, so that they had the same provider for both. So they benefit from a dual fuel discount, they are possible to pay standard prices and could save by switching to a more competitive tariff.
