ipod deleting

I have just bought my daughter an ipod and through my hopelessness with computer technology I have downloaded a load of songs that she does not want. There are no instructions as to how to delete the music. Anyone know how?

don't panic.

i take it you have downloaded the songs into itunes.....

If you don't like the songs either then you can delete them completely- in itunes right click on the songs you do not want, a menu will appear - chose clear, you will be asked if you are sure you want to remove it from itunes- say yes (only if you do not want it!!). Do this for each song you don't want. When this has been completed, reconnect your ipod to the computer and it will automatically update (and lose the songs you have erased).

If you or someone else still wants to keep the songs then uncheck the blue boxes of the songs your daughter does not want (blue box is in front of song title- click on it with you mouse and the tick disappears). Again connecting your ipod will update the ipod.

You'll be an expert in no time!

basically, just think of iTunes as being the music organiser, and the iPod as a copy of your iTunes music.

if you remove songs from iTunes library and then plug in the iPod, those songs will go from the iPod too. if you add songs to iTunes and then plug in, they'll be added to the iPod too.

I do wish to kweep a lot of tunes that I have on itunes and have tried removing the ticks in the blue box but the damn thing still insists on downloading the entire library, any thoughts?+
