galaxy clock (older overhead style) malfunction

hi,

recently the overhead clock has started to malfunction; it displays some parts of a digit but not all. But if i press on it it displays them all !!!

what can be wrong with it, is it repairable or should i get a new one.

sorry if it seems too long, but do i just pull the casing out or does the face (or someting) come off first when i go to remove it.

it sounds as if some of the led crystals have gone.

Yep the crystals in the display are shot, new one required you cannot fix them.

I can only give you generic information not specific to your car - Usually the complete clock assembly pulls out of the housing and there might be spring clips which you have to release with a screwdriver etc...
This might be repairable but not easily, many of these displays are clipped into place on the PCB of the clock and make contact through a sort of conductive rubber strip down each side on the display, if this comes loose you can get exactly the problem you describe. You have to remove the complete PCB and examine it to see how the display is held in place and then try to tighten it, it might be that bending the holding tabs down more will do it or maybe you might have to put a shim under the fixings to get more pressure.
