Anyone know where I can buy empty PC monitors and towers?

Just 'dressing' a property for sale and want to show a space as office space but can't afford to buy the real thing!

Thanks

There are plenty of firms who sell 'empty' PC cases but, for your purposes, it'll almost certainly be cheaper to buy an older (complete) base unit than to buy a new case. Firms like Birrmingham-based Speedie (www.speedie.co.uk) sell Pentium 2 base units from 15 but you'll probably have to pay as much again in carriage charges. (Remember though, that you'll be able to get some of your money back later by selling the PC for a few quid in your local free-ads paper).

AC Computer Warehouse, in Stockport, (www.acomputerwarehouse.com) sell 15" monitors from a tenner but, once again, the carriage charges will add quite alot to this.

Your best bet might be to phone around the local computer repairers. Many of them have got lots of 'junk' computers lying around which they've been meaning to take to the local tip for ages. If you explain why you want the computers and monitors (i.e.you make it clear that you're not expecting any sort of warranty on the goods) they might let you have them for only a nominal amount. (They'll probably come with keyboards but, if you feel you need to add these, both Asda and Tesco sell new keyboards for around a fiver).

Our "Local Amenities Depot" (Rubbish Tip to you and I) often have monitors and computers that people have disposed of and the lads there have salvaged. You can probably pick one up for about 10-20.
Check your local schools as well, they may be upgrading their equipment. (There may be problems for them disposing of them this way though).
