I make my own pigs in blankets and bacon wrapped around cheese thingies.

Am staying mute on the subject of roasted nuts.

It's food porn.
I tried once to make a Delia chocolate log.

Put me off trying anything like that again until I get a team of helpers.
I've made quite a few things recently off various different cookery programs.
Hairy Bikers and Nigel Slater being the favorites :-)

The psychology is to make you nostalgic for a 'perfect' fantasy Christmas you never had and to make you associate all those warm family Dickensian Christmas feelings with the particular brand so that you'll feel the desire to make this Christmas 'Special' and do your biggest food shop of the year with them.

Very few people will do those things but they're telling you that if you shop there then you might get the inspiration and suddenly gave a "Nigella moment"

All fantasy, all flattery - all food porn

Same reason they use celebs to sell scent
