On a car insurance policy when the principle driver and policyholder has an expired driving licence is the second named driver still insured?

Check the policy,Insurance companies will only insure the holder of a licence
I can see the insurance company objecting, as the policyholder has probably been nominated as the main driver. This is obviously no longer true.

Also if the second named driver is young or high risk, this could be seen as 'fronting'.
In the application the insurers will have asked, "How long have you held a full UK driving licence?"
If the answer was, "Not currently held." no insurance would have been issued.
If the applicant's licence has expired since the application, the insurers must be informed of the changed conditions, and they would then withdraw the cover.

Thank you
When you say it has expired, is that just the photograph?
If so, I don't think the licence is invalid, just that it is overdue for updating.

The licence has expired due to age of principle driver. It needs to be renewed once a doctors certificate has been obtained.
Ah, OK.
