Hdmi Cable?

have got my sons tablets for xmas, they are 10 and 12 so not top grade ones. I got son 1 versus touchpad and thought I had son 2 the same but his is versus touchtab,,son 2's was half the price of son 1's and the only real difference I can see is that the more expensive one says HDMI cable but I'm not sure what that means, my sister tells me its something to do with plugging into other devices????
