// The upmarket fabric and wallpaper group (Osborne and Little), in which George Osborne has a multi-million pound interest, recorded a loss of £301,000 for the year to March 2012, and paid no corporation tax.

The loss came on turnover of £23 Million.

Despite the poor performance, the company was able to donate £4,000 to the Conservative Party. //

very difficult to lose money on a turnover of £23m, I would have thought, but I suppose that's why you have acocuntants.
Bad management, Gromit. What was the family again? A bit of digging should reveal far more waste than £4,000.

Accountants see no virtue in having losses. The days when you could sell a company at a good price simply because it had enormous losses are long gone. All you can do with the losses is carry them over to set against profits in the following year(s) .

// In total, directors' pay, including benefits and pensions, increased from £1.1m to £1.3m. //
