Converting Old Vhs Tapes And Hi8 Tapes To Dvd.

I have VHS and Hi8 tapes of our family going back nesrly 30 years. My Hi8 recorder no longer works and I've losy my Hi8 to VHS converter cartridge. I want to transfer the films to DVD, Does anyone know what I need (hardware and software) to allow the transfer?

I played mine on vhs and used dvd recorder copied all my home videos. Some companys charge quite a bit to do it. If you could find another cartridge converter it's worth picking up an old vcr if you have not got one and dvd recorder and you will manage.

I got a capture device for a few quid off amazon. Played the videos on the VCR, captured to my laptop and then burned to disc.
