Surely one person's celebrity is another person's non-celebrity.
For example I dont watch any soaps, so nobody on a soap is a celebrity to me.
But for people who watch Eastenders, Corrie or Hollyoaks the people on there are celebrities.
I do agree we throw around the epithet celebrity too easily and people can become a celebrity by apearing on a reality show for a few weeks (are you listening mr wierdo from pineapple studio).
Years ago I remember Andy Warhol saying "in future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes" and at the time I had no idea what he meant.
Now with the internet, youtube, social media, reality shows, celebrity game shows and so on anyone can be famous for a short time and I now know what he meant.
