Has Anyone Had This Virus
15 Answers
Norovirus that is. I started to feel bad several weeks before Christmas, and wonder if this could be the problem. I have looked at the NHS site to get some people's thoughts, it doesn't make good reading, as most of what they have said i have had and still have. I have diarrhoea, but the stomach cramps and bloated feeling have been crippling. I do drink water but it's hard drinking or eating, thought this would have gone by now.

They are just drinking loads of water but some of them find it hard to keep down. My Gran who is in hospital in Southampton has had it since the beginning of december. She is on a drip though which makes it easier to get fluids into her.

sqad, will be doing that monday, will take a week to get results. Some obviously have had it longer, or similar, am now quite run down. The cramps are horrible. Have felt nauseous, but not actually been sick. I asked the doc the other day, and reminded him of the pancreatitis i had some years back, it's very worrying.
I went to see the pharmacist because mine had dragged on, he said acute phase about 48 hours no longer than 72 and after effects no longer than a week. He said round here (hampshire), its been particularly virulent this year and the only treatment for otherwise healthy folk, is real rest and hydration and NOT sharing it around.
Have you tried buscopan? It is good for cramps and easy to get over the counter. I have chronic diarrhoea and get a lot of gurgling noises when things are bad and bloating.
Keeping up your fluids is important, if you are feeling dehyrated then try the rehydration sachets. Sucking on ice lollies could help if you are finding it hard to keep liquids down.
Avoid anything too sweet and stick to a low residue diet if possible to make things easier for your system to process while it is unhappy.
I find simmer soups great, I love the chicken noodle ones. Tinned pink salmon sandwiches with soft white bread and no crusts too.
Hope you feel better soon x
