Missing Cat
13 Answers
my parents rehomed a lovely wee cat at the start of the week. She'd been an outdoor cat and unfortunately after only 2 days she managed to escape. She has now been missing for 3 days. We've all been out looking for her, the local vet and animal shelter have been notified, neighbours have been asked to look out for her, her previous owner is on the lookout and notices are up in the local shops. Is there anything anyone can think of that we've missed? Any tips on other ways to find her?
Thanks

How far away is the previous owner and are they in the same home? Maybe some idea as to how easily the cat might have been able to head back that way and how long it would take.
Maybe also the reason for rehoming? Is there any reason the cat could have headed back to its old territory but be unlikely to go to the former owner or home, such as other animals or new people?

She seemed to be happy in her old home Jenna, and it's not that far away. She would have got there long ago if that's where she was headed. The only thing we're not sure about is if maybe she was in season. She's not been spayed - but none of us have any experience of unspayed females and seasons. I suppose she may have run off to 'scratch an itch'....
Both my female rescue cats are done, one of them, who I lost earlier this year, gave me one hell of a fright one evening. I could hear her yowling as if in pain and was out walking the streets in my nightie and jeans (with a coat over) calling her. My hearing isn't great but worked out roughly where she was, knocked on a door nearby in a panic and ended up me and these two young guys (who I think thought I was a bit of a nutter) traming round with torches in the large overgrown garden at the back of their house.
Finally found here and she was absolutely fine, turns out she was having a bit of fun! Awful noise they make though. So even though done, they can indulge!
Could she have got shut in somewhere? Especially if people have gone away for a Christmas break or not been out in sheds or such with festivities going on?

I had a look at the Cat's Protection page, but I couldn't see a way to report a missing cat, it all seemed to be about adopting from them. Then again I was looking on my phone so it was awfy wee, I'll have a proper look tonight. My parents have told all their neighbours so I doubt she's locked in anywhere locally, but further afield...who knows.
Funnily enough there were a couple of cats obviously having a great time out the back earlier. I went out to have a look but I couldn't see a blooming thing. Part of me is hoping it was her - she did spend a couple of days here before I took her to my mum's and they are only round the corner, but I think it's unlikely - just wishful thinking on my part.
