After my birds ate my BT phone line (!) I'm only back on-line now - thanks to a temporary fix with a dongle (T-mobile) but cannot seem to be able to skype my daughter who's living in LA. Why is this ? She says it may be that my signal's not strong enough . . . ?
Is there anything I can do - until such times as I get back on-line proper ?

Your daughter is right Skype requires a lot of bandwidth to work correctly and using a dongle which relies on the mobile phone towers for its reception is not enough to make it work. If you can get to a place that has a fixed broadband connection then you will be able to use it.
I can use Skype on my mobile phone so it should be possible to Skype using a dongle.
T Mobile blocks Skype for pay as you go mobile broadband.

Thanx for that (well, the two answers I could read ! Why do they "remove" some ?)
Didn't know that hc - and they sure don't inform you of such when you 're buying !!!
The removed answer was spam posted in the very early hours - it happens nightly when lots of threads are spammed at the same time.
