I have a Chinese duck pancake roll ready meal thing and it says use by 30/12 - the duck stuff is vacuum packed. Will it be ok tomorrow or is it likely to make me ill (don't fancy it tonight). Thanks.

Ummmm you have to reject the opened ones before cooking with mussells and any that havent opened after cooking. Before cooking if you tap them and they are alive they close. If they dont they are dead and should be rejected.
I know, Grass, I eat them often :-) The cat rejected the unopened one after cooking.
Oh. Wise cat!
we lived for years with out ''use by'' or ''best before'' dates and peple survived, so trust your nose and instincts, if in doute throw it out other wise eat it,

The food industry were very pleased when these were introduced as we started throwing out food that was good to eat simply because of a date on the side.

Food can be well in date but very unfit to eat, if it's not been stored correctly rendering the date useless so again trust your nose not the date stamped on the side
