Does anybody know the word used to describe the studio intro sequences at the start of films - like the Universal rotating globe, or the MGM lion, etc.

The only word I can think of would be - Trade-mark.
It would be the "introduction sequence" which uses the company "logo" like the globe or lion etc. or could feature anything else.
I know that TV ones (the old BBC balloon, the Thames London skyline etc) are called "ident's " ; presumably short for identification, so I suppose these are film studio ident's.
The slang used in post production terms is simply "logo"
