Bleeding still after contraceptive coil.

Hi again.

Some may remember a few weeks back that I was having the above fitted. Well eventually I did on the Weds. before Christmas. My period started the Sunday before and I still have it now!

This morning there was a blood clot when I went to the loo (sorry to be so graphic!) and my period keeps looking like it is going only to come back full pelt again.

It will be 2 weeks on Weds, should the bleeding last so long? There is no pain and I haven't been brave enough to check if I can feel the coil. It is the coil that releases the hormone.

Go and see your doctor wingnut, it shouldnt be like that,also you shouldnt be able to feel the coil only the string that is attached to the coil.make an appointment asap

Thank you for your reply :o) Sorry I meant the string attached not the coil itself. I'm just not sure how long the bleeding is suppose to go on for. I think I will make an appointment just to be sure. Thanx again :o)

I understand what you meant by not feeling the coil now, im sure you would feel some pain if the coil would of moved...let me know how you go on and take care x

I haven't been on here for a while, so didn't see your original post and don't know your age etc. Obviously you must see your GP unfortunately, but thought I would relate my experience on this. I am 44 and until a few months ago my periods were regular, little pain and lasted approx., 3-4 days. I did see my Doctor and he asked if I needed contaception, but after having a sterilisation 11 years ago! He wasn't clear but he was likely thinking of offering the coil to help it. I said I would leave it as though it was a lot heavier, it was ending after about 5 days. Then last month it went on for 10 days and as I'm back at work, it was really interfering. The Doctor I saw is a new one in a different area and foreign and I find her difficult to understand. When I mentioned the coil, she said "no, no"! But she has given me Tranexamic acid tablets which you take during the heavy days and it's not a hormone. She also said I have to have to have a scan of my womb, not clear as to why? Good luck with it.

I'm 27 and was advised by the Doctor to have the coil because my periods were starting to be all over the place and I also suffer from anxiety and since this has got worse, I was having terrible, terrible mood swings, to the point I was wanting to lash out! I couldn't control my anger (always started a few days before my period was due) and with the anxiety I was just an emotional mess. She suggested that my hormones were all messed up and that having the coil would help me a lot.
I do think that everything is ok now as the bleeding is stopping and I checked myself and could feel the coil string, but I am going to see the Doctor just to check as I don't really know what I am looking/feeling for lol
Oh god! I'm glad I don't embaress easily!

Good Luck with everything Marion, I had a scan to check for fibroids, because I was bleeding a little in between periods, maybe this is what they are wanting to check for? The Doctor did say that for no reason your periods could just start to play up so hopefully this is the case for you Marion and it will sort itself out :o)
