ive just been to renew my car tax and the gentleman at the local post office wouldnt renew it, because the log book name wasnt corrosponding with the insurance(daddy bought me the car and my fiance drives it)so there fore different names appear, i argued this with him, but he still wouldnt do it for us,, was he in the right?

Post offices don't like complications but if the insurance and MOT both state the vehicle number to be taxed then the names should be irrelevant. If still a problem then change the registered keeper to the insured person. The insurance companies prefer this. Check with the DVLA.

Anyone can buy the tax (road fund licence) for any vehicle if they produce the Registration Certificate, a valid MOT certificate, valid insurance and the money to pay for it, it does not matter who the vehicle is registered to.

Go to your local DVLA office and do it there and report the Post Office you tried to use.
