If you want car questions answered you should give more details,

If it is overheating, is the only indication of this the temprature gauge reading high?, if so you probably only have a broken temprature sender unit, if your Astra is a 190-1996 model they only cost around �15 and are quite easy to fit. If it boils over every time you drive it the cost of repair could be anything from �5 for a new hose to a �1000 for an engine overhaul!
