Why did this Muslim couple enrol their child in a Greek Orthodox school in the first place, especially when they were already made aware of the school's dress code?

Why the need to take their case to the High Court, couldn't the matter have been settled at a lower level, and who will be picking up the legal bill?

What about the religious freedom of the Greek Orthodox and other pupils who follow their dress code?

just another example of parents who don't read the small print, or shall one say don't care for the rules. if the girl wants to stay at the school, she should abide by what the school requires.

I think that the principle of 'if you join the club, you follow the rules' applies here.

I have to say it, as usual the Muslims are looking for special dispensation to suit their religion. If they enrolled their daughter and knew the dress code and the curriculum of a Greek Orthodox school why should the school bend their rules to suit them further. The questions should have been asked before she joined the school. They should bow out gracefully and take the daughter elsewhere. Except they won't will they, they will want everyone to see they are victimised. I hope they have a decent judge.

Before I started in my secondary school, my mum was given a booklet which outlined the school's dress policy.

How could it have come to this? How could it have been a shock to the parents?

Obviously the parents ignored the rules and went for the 'victim' stance instead.

Show them to the nearest port/aiprort where they'll be granted safe passage to the nearest Muslim country of their choice, where they'll be able to live and practice as Muslims to their hearts content.

According to the article, the girl's brother still attends that school. boy, I bet he is so proud that his class-mates won't be taking the michael.
(Although I don't think the article made it clear if the brother was older or not)

I wish the Daily Mail had interviewed the parents of the girl to give the story a little balance. Because right now, there seems to be a big part of the jigsaw missing.

They still have a son at the school, which suggests that they're happy with his continuing education. The more I think of it, the more this story smells.

Why was there no attempt to get the parents' story? Wouldn't that help us to understand why they took the action?

And why not? Just because they want their daughter to wear a head scarf, doesn't make them any less a 'really nice family'.

What a load of rubbish, the parents knew the rules if they don't want to follow them they should send their child to a school that accepts the needs of Muslims.
It annoys me these people waste taxpayers money (unless they are paying out of their own pockets!!) that could be put to better use.

Covering the head is a choice that many Muslims make - but it isn't a requirement of the religion.
