Just wondering if the setter has made a mistake here. Pointer is an anagram of roe and pint A pint is half a quart.
I'm probably barking up the wrong tree!
Thanks for suggestion Quinie, even if the pun was aweful :-)
Had wondered myself if they'd got confused over volume of gill and thought half was equal to a pint but reckoned it was a bit of a major error for them to have made, similarly confusing gill and quart :-(
I've been assuming that half a gill was indicating using two letters from gill in a compound anagram involving deer of some kind.
Yes,quizbrew,I've been trying to get a word from 2 letters of gill and name of a deer but no luck so far.I often say I'm barking up the wrong tree and didn't realize till I'd typed it that it could be a pun lol
