I woke up yesterday feeling very dizzy. I couldn't seem to keep my eyes from rolling to either side (it changed randomly). I had a sore head and felt quite sleepy, but when I lay down the room spun at an alarming rate. I feel a lot better today, but it was a bit scary for a while.
What could it be? (It wasn't a hangover, by the way!)
I'm not on any medication and have no health issues.

Thanks 2sp....2 things come to mind: 1) Vestibular Neuronitis 2) Meniere's disease. Neither life threatening but upsetting. My money goes on 1) and this should settle over the next 10 days as it usually follows a viral infection... flu or cold. This is really interesting because I have had the same thing over the last three days-starting to feel better now. I had a really bad cold before christmas which took 4wks to clear completely so I do feel run down therefore susceptible to viral infection I guess. I had to hold onto the door frame as the room was spinning so alarmingly and slept most of saturday. Mine also linked to menopause-hot flushes really bad at moment and making me feel quite faint so not helping.
