....wants to exonerate himself by confessing to cheating by drug usage. Can anyone just forgive and forget? In my book he is a criminal and requires 5 years of imprisonment and confiscation of all his ill-gotten gains. What do you think?

does confession exonerate? I don't think so, I suppose he'll releive some sort of burden by comming clean. Is doping an actual criminal offence?

Doping was and still is a criminal offence in France, the French police were very pro active about it at a particular time.
Furthermore, Armstrong sued the Sunday Times for libel about him doping and won. The ST are now counter suing and want their compensation back.

I feel sorry for the runeers up in the Tour de France. Although Armstrong has been stripped of his titles they will just become void.

I know lots of people who need to get doped up or grogged to to fly, maybe that was the reason here. And to France, more so.
