Anybody Had Any Experience With Giffgaff?
9 Answers
My neice being a typical teenager is never off her phone, last month she ran up a horrendous bill of over £400, obviously this cant be sustained. I found a company called Giffgaff which short of taking the phone off her might be a solution. Has anyone had any experience of them, are they any good?
She could get 1500 mins, and 'unlimited' texts and internet for a fraction of what she is currently shelling out for £25, it seems its too good to be true....is it.
Many thanks for your comments!

They are a SIM only provider (as far as I know) and offer different packages for different amounts per month. Depending on her needs she can tailor her package accordingly. They offer 'goodybags' which can be organised on a month by month basis or by an automatic purchase on a specific date. They also provide free calls and texts to any other GiffGaff number.
We have never had any problems with their service and intend to continue with them for the foreseeable future.
I hope you can help her reduce her bill Barney, £400 is a hell of a money!!!
Best of luck with your search.

Thanks for your replies guys....her mother (my sister) went absolutely spare with her as my neice doesnt have a bank account and the bill comes out of my sisters bank account. My neice does have a job and can pay the bill but that isnt the point, in the last 4 months she has run up a bill approaching £1000 which is madness (most of it is mobile internet where the price per mb is horrendous once you go over your limit). She could have used that money towards a new car. So you can see that something drastic has to be done. As i said she does pay the bill so her mum cant take the phone off her, but i do find it suprising that vodafone her provider didnt cap the bill once it got to a certain level. So Giffgaff might be the best way to go at least she can use the phone and not rack up such a huge bill in the future. Thanks again! Any other comments as to the releiability of Giffgaff would be most welcome!
By the way murraymints..she was on pay as you go but she was no good on that and went on a contract because it was thought she couldnt possible rack up such huge bills on that....how wrong we was. I cant get get my head round it personally, i struggle to get through my 200 minutes at £15 a month let alone rack up a £400+ bill. But i stoppped being a teenager nearly 50 years ago, and we had phone boxes rather than mobile phones then!!!
I suspect she was perfectly good on PAYG. It's the adults thinking "poor soul" who have learnt the lesson of giving out blank cheques. Your neice has not had to learn self discipline as she would have when her connection dropped use of lack of credit.
Anyway she doesn't need Net connection on a phone, and more than I need a water chiller on my toaster. Let her access the Net at home from the family PC.
