rover 414 cold air

my heater is only blowing out cold air but the water is very hot

Try squeezing the pipes going th the heater to see if the water is getting through. Failing that the heater itself may have blocked and broken down. Cheap enough to replace from a scrapyard goog luck.

Make sure there is no air in the cooling system.

The cable going from the hot/cold dial switch maybe broken which is fairly common. Check the above replies first but see if there is any resistance on the switch. It maybe stuck in the cold position. They're a bit of a pain to fit bu you should be able to DIY.

try taking your thermostat out and when its cold drop it into a cup or jug of boiling hot water if it opens up lift it out and watch as it cools it should close if not you need a thermostat and dont forget a new gasket when you get one

Thermostats are a real ****** on 414s, so only do this if all else fails!
