Annoying Phone Call

Phone just rang. Answered it. Caller was possibly from an Indian call centre and he said "Is that Mrs Greenslade". Me: "No, I think you have got the wrong number". He carries on talking. Me, again, more forcefully: "You have got the wrong number". Caller: "Then why do you say you are Mrs Greenslade?"
?!?!?

I never let them get any further, I say firmly but politely NO thankyou, I am NOT interested, thank you for ringing, Goodbye and put the phone down before they can go any further. They never ring back.

Lady Janine - after that he actually started to argue with me but before I could say anything he hung up! Calmed down now so leaving for work. Have a great day.

Before I unplugged my landline phone (regrettably I need the line for the internet or that'd go too) I used to get seriously annoyed at cold callers, especially the ones who'd ask me to confirm my telephone number to them!

OH and i have different surnames so when asked if i am mrs bacd i honestly say i am not mrs bacd and then them to wait while i go and look to find her or put the washing out, vac the house, clean the car, etc. . . . . .

Perhaps 'No' means 'Yes' in Indian.

my mum used to keep a whistle near the phone then she would blow it if it was a funny call as she callled them

I had a PPI one a few weeks ago. One which had been persistent in ringing me.
"According to our information, you are entitled...etc. etc."
The last time they called a couple of weeks ago, I said, "Well, I don't know where you get your information from, which should be confidential anyway, but it is completely incorrect."
They haven't rung since.
