Volanteer Work, Any Ideas Please....
18 Answers
I have lots of spare time as I am retired but semi disabled.
I would like to do some volantary work from home if possible, maybe 20 hours a week for a hospital or a day centre to give something back.
Any suggestions?

I used to volunteer on a day unit at a hospice and that wasn't as active as some of the other voluntary work I've done such as with the severely disabled and some other things. I used to help a lot with diversional therapy there.
I've also volunteered on projects with Women's Aid, deaf club, RWVS Contact Centre (supervising contact with children) and student tutoring a blond student, all of which weren't that physical either.

Oh, and missed the from home bit too...I think I need an early night!
I'm sure I saw a Give an Hour thing somewhere about giving time to help others get on the internet, not sure if you can do that from home.

Daisy, could you not ask if you could set up some kind of book club there?
More difficult reading to children as I imagine you may need to be CRB checked or similar these days but maybe one for adults?
I used to work in the village library part time when I was at school/college. A lot of the books tend to be pretty old so you could always ask if you could organise some kind of book campaign to get people to donate books they don't want anymore to breathe some new life into the reading material.

If you pop your postcode in here you might find something interesting.
Leave it set on "All interests" and see what comes up. Even if its not 100% suitable you might get some inspiration and be able to phone the organisations to offer your time to them.
