avg email scanner

hi, i have been banging my head with a problem with outlook xpress, well when i open it this appears time out error code 0x800CCC19, this is all well and good but after 4 calls to ntl i still cant pick my emails up. i tried everyyhing they suggested but in the end i discovered that by turning off avg email scanner everything works fine. So how do i get avg scanner back on without effecting my email

Hi there

I have been using AVG with Norton Firewall and that seems to be the problem following a recent update to AVG.

After looking round the net I changed from Norton to Sygate firewall and all seems to be working. However you may have success if you install Norton (if you have it installed) restart your pc and reinstall Norton. Apparently it it comes down to refreshing permissions through the firewall after the AVG update.

You could uninstall AVG and change to another AV product such as Microsoft Security Essentials. It is available free from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/security-essentials-download
