Lost Painting : Devilish Groom In Red & A Reluctant Bride
3 Answers
I haven't seen this painting for over 20 years ...
The groom is devilish (or possibly Faust) dressed in a red cloak. He is eager for the ceremony to take place ... The bride is less so, I think she is either bound or praying, as she has her hands clasped near her face, which is obviously in stress, I don't remember her dressed in white ...
The painting is very detailed, almost Pre-Raphaelite, I seem to remember the canvas being square.
I bought a tattered book of art outside a bookshop years ago & framed this picture, so I have no source to tie it to & unfortunately the framed picture is long gone.
Would appreciate any clues that could help me along ...
Thank you xx
