I use a Dell Inspiron 9100 which has a 3.2g P4, 512mb RAM, 128mb ATI Radeon 9700 graphics and 15.4" screen. The very latest Dells have an option for the 256mb ATI Radeon 9800 graphics.
Only drawback of a very fast laptop (one that is good enough for gaming) is that they're bulkier than the Centrino ones plus the battery doesn't last as long if you're using a Pentium 4 chip.
The result of this is that if anything goes wrong with your machine, you will face a very poor customer service team and a hefty bill for labour and parts.
I would recommend buying a 'tier 2' brand such as IPC Multimedia, as they can provide high levels of service and very good warranties included in the price. Remember, most of the components are from the same place so service really is the issue.
To find your local retailer of such brands just give them a call and they will point you in the right direction. It's worth mentioning that you can buy online but get much better deals by finding a dealer!
