The weather forecast mentions the possibilty of snow this weekend. I cannot help noticing that snow is always forecast in centimetres, rain in millimetres and down here in the west country the surf is always forecast in feet. Funny thing is that on days with little surf they say "half a foot" - they never say you can expect to get 6 inches on the beach today.

Bit too cold for 6ins on the beach, lol!
Ooooh matron.
shrivels in this cold weather, you know!
I can't picture snow in centimeters, it has to be inches.

A bit like fuel consumption has to be mpg, even though you can't buy gallons.
and travelling at MPH

In the same week, trading standards officials in Norwich threatened to prosecute a market trader for selling produce in imperial units while also threatening to prosecute the owner of a Belgian bar for selling draught beers in metric units!
This country has officially been metric for quite a while. Unlike Canada, Australia or Ireland the population hasn't followed officialdom though...
road signs in mph says it all. ( stuff metric)

Of course no-one thinks twice about describing car engines as being 2,000cc for instance. I guess I will be on my Kawasaki 1.3 pint tomorrow then !
