When a baby is born, what is the reason they put vaseline, cream, drops or whatever into their eyes?
Curious after watching another baby born programme on tele x

many thanks for replies Abers.
Its the birth stories on Home and Health.
i realise now that is is an American programme, so maybe not done here in England.
it makes sense that the drops etc are to help keep infection at bay after travelling through the birth canal. Curiosity satisfied x lol
