Fitting new Emmersion heaters, Saturday Project!
5 Answers
My BF and I are attempting to replace our emmersion heater tomorrow. WAHhhooooo! I've been quoted CRAZY prices for various tools and parts, basically I've been told that a New Emmersion will cost approx 10-12, and the special spanner will be 4.50, (Plumb Centre quoted me 25.50!!!!). Anyway what other tools, products, advice etc will we need, and any problems you may anticipate us having! We are Emmersion Heater virgins so be gentle with us!

If it's only the heater itself that you are replacing then it shouldn't be too difficult. As there are so many types you would be advised to ask the supplier for fitting instructions, or you could google for the particular model.
No 1 tip .... don't forget to turn off the power and water.

Thanks guys!! Wouldn't you believe it,but my other half never got round to it, so I'm still washing my hair in cold water!, I'll definately try the thermostat tonight though, (I can do that) Glad to hear that a new tank isn't as much as I thought. Really appreciate all your advice, will let you know how I get on. :-)
