I am thinking of buying a games console but which one. Iam not going wait for all these new updated versions as the current ones do way beyond what I have been used to. What is the difference betwen the X Box, PS2 and Game Cube. All these appear to be reasonably priced now and there are lots of pre-owned games on sale. Or am I better getting games for the pc?Thanks

if you already own a decent pc then yes get pc games !

but some games are only available on console or are better on console but their isnt much to choose between them to be honest as its all horses for courses.

xbox is the most powerful but ps2 has the widest games catalogue and gamecube has dedicated fans

Other things to consider, the X Box is huge the size of an old Video player. if space is limited the PS2 can be stood on end so takes up a lot less room and the game cube is tiny.

As Mattk says the number of games for the PS2 is bigger than the others with the Gamecude range fairly limited.

The problem with the PC is you need a fairly high spec PC to play all the latest games. That may or may not be a problem but a decent graphics card would set you back the price of a console and second hand games are rare.
PS2 would be my suggestion.

But with the PS3 only round the corner, if you/'re gonna want all the latest games, wait for that (though it will be expensive).
