I Pad Mini

morning folks, I wonder if somebody could possibly answer a burning question that Mr Chox and I have. We recently bought an Ipad mini and very much enjoy using. We have downloaded a few apps from the App store already on the mini, but now want to get some from I tunes. We understand that we have to sync the I tunes app (came as default on the mini on purchase) with our I tunes subscription on our laptop.

We have been told that all we need to do is to have both apps open (i.e. on the laptop and on the mini) to the home page on each, put in the white cable from the Ipad and then wait for all the guff to transfer to the Ipad.

Is that correct? Would hate to mess things up, so would be grateful for a bit of guidance/advice.
