I installed a wanadoo dial up connection on a friends laptop, they have started back to teaching following the holidays and everytime they try to get onto the network the dial up connection takes over and they are left with a web page offline due to failure of dial up - the laptop is running on windows 2003. Unfortunately they have no onsite tech support.

I doubt the laptop is running windows 2003 but that's beside that point. It sounds like they have some settings in IE or Outlook set that ignores the LAN.

In IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections and check the option 'Dial whenever a network connection is not present' is selected.

There's a similar option in Outlook.
