Depends on the person- my 70 odd year old mother in law is perfectly road savvy still and drives like Michael Schumacher but there is someone in the village in their mid 50's who really needs to give it up.
Here in Spain we have to have medicals every 5 yrs after 45yrs of age to renew our licences. Then after 70 we have to do it yearly. Eyetest, BP, driving 2 cars up different roads at the same time (machine) and guessing when dots are appearing out of tunnels, all very exhausting!
Depends on the person. I have a hairdressers across the road from me that old people tend to go to. Some of them should not be driving, it's painful to watch them trying to park.
When they are off this mortal coil if they feel like it before that......time we stopped all this ageist malarky...in all walks of life. Some great people are put out to grass far too early IMO....
no set age, but its fair to say that at about 70 people need to start checking themselves and make honest judgements.
my dad is 84 and although not had an accident, i really wish hed stop driving... he is erratic and sometimes drives well and other times like hes new to it!
Joeluke, if there were buses available. I live in a small village and the nearest town 12 miles away. The first bus leaves my village at 8-30, it's the school bus and the first bus from the town back to my village is at 4-15. I am not going to hang about the town for 8 hours.
