wonder if someone would say this, so you suppose any number of dead British or foreign workers will be the reason why he has cancelled his speech, perhaps there are more important things to worry about, but at this moment i can't see it, the families of the workers will be very worried, and the EU has been around a long while now, it can't wait for a day or two. If he doesn't make the speech in the next six months, then you can complain.

I feel gulity saying this but my first reaction was exactly that

Yes the Prime Minister need not cancel his engagements.

But having said that, I don’t know why politicians (and the PM particularly( bother to make any speeches or announcements. Almost every day, unless there is a major disaster or catastrophe, the 8 o’clock news on Radio 4 begins “The government will announce today…” or “The Prime Minister will make a speech today when he will set out plans….”.

This speech on our future relationship with the EU is worth about the same as any other commitment this government has made or will make (especially relating to the EU) and could easily be trailed on R4.

NJ, but perhaps the one he was supposed to make today was significant,
who knows, but i do think that at the minute the lives of our citizens are more important than the crud that comes out of the EU

Never known him to cancel any engagement when yet another soldier or soldiers have been killed.

No this is yet more 'dithering' from our well known 'dithering' PM.

perhaps so, but give him credit for at least caring what happens to our people there. and i believe he has been out to Afghanistan any number of times, so not exactly uncaring.. let us wait a bit and see before jumping to conclusions.

Ignore the headlines there and read the actual story, fourth paragraph. When did news media start to confuse cancel and postpone?

I don't know if any of you watch BBC's Question Time last night, but Nigel Farage put over some good points in a controlled gentleman's way?

And surprise, surprise he got a good response from what is generally a Question Time, left thinking audience.

I especially liked his response to a fellow panel member when the question of immigrants harvesting the produce on farms was mentioned.

He simply responded by saying "and did this produce rot in the ground before they came into the country"?
