ventriloquists dummies are creepy when they are not pathetic. There was a film with Anthony Hopkins (I think) where his dummy became sinister and the roles became reversed.

Who remembers the dreadful record "Sparky and the magic piano" in the 50s? That horrible squeaky little voice "Spar----keeeee, I will play for you" drove me mad when it was on Saturday morning's "Children's Favourites!" (Uncle Mac)
