My commute is a bit complicated; Bedroom to bathroom to kitchen to study (eventually) Encountered a bit of turbulence in the bathrom, otherwise ok, apart from a diversion due to a bacon sarnie in the kitchen.

I have no excuse. I had to walk downstairs to the study. :(
Fortunately, I don't have to go to work today. I don't think I'm going to my line dancing session today as it's in a village hall about five miles away. I think I'll give it a miss. I will have to battle my way to the hospital though, to see my Dad. I didn't go yesterday.
i'm lucky .... i booked today off many weeks ago - in the event that my car might have failed the MOT this weekend, and i would have to leave it with them to fix .... but it passed.

i shall make the most of today though, and am about to walk into town for a haircut and some shopping
My husband has a 160 mile round trip commute by train. He's in the office now. We have thick snow here, and the snow ploughs are out on the roads, but things seem to be working ok.
Schools are closed so had no choice but to take a day off work. Might go sledging later.

Best of luck with your journey Tilly2, hope it's safe and trouble free for you xx

hit the button too soon - sledging pretty - my lot used to love that when they were small! Oh barmaid all that way, wrap up, thermals on, and keep a supply of hot drinks and snacks!
Thanks, iluvspikey. I might just resort to public transport.
The cars are struggling to pull off from outside their houses. Took one bloke about 15 minutes! Most of the schools in Northants are shut.
I'm working from home for most of this week, so no excuse for me to skive off :-(

and that post is the bottom line...."where there's a will, there's a way."
Just a good excuse for some folks not to turn up for work.

I can never remember schools closing because of snow.

In the early 70's one of my colleagues living in a snowbound area came to his out patient session on a tractor.

Come on now.......
Your old school is closed today Sqad!
wild here..school closed..buses off...oh not going in today..we live at top of hill which is now littered with abandoned cars...even bin man and gritter have turned back...get the soup maker out day...
Barmaid.........yeah! who would have guessed....sign of the times eh?
We have less than an inch of snow, all local schools are open and life is going on as normal. OH has the next 4 days off work so we will be having a lazy day today :)
Sqad, it's because he's one of those damned high earners who some seem to think don't do much for their pay. ;o)

naomi....I understand.....
Why is it that schools close now when they didn't in Sqad's day? Could it be that more teachers commute to work than back in Sqad's day? Also there was hardly any cars on the roads then so the risk of an accident would be greatly reduced.
I have a day off today, not that it makes any difference, not a speck of snow here in my parts of Devon! Snow never kept me off school or work but these days I would not risk getting a child to school in treacherous conditions with some of the idiots you see driving in the snow and ice, education is not so important to risk their lives just for a day or two. I would have to walk to work about a 2 hour walk, the people I look after cant look after themselves.
