I have seen it at the theatre 3 times and I saw it at the cinema on Thursday. Personally I think the film is better than the stage show, because on stage they are limited to scenery etc, it is all about belting out the songs. However in the film although the singing is not brilliant, it is somehow all the more powerful and moving. Did I cry? yes I cried buckets:)...

I've not seen the film yet, but I've seen it on the stage so many times I've lost count.

Yes take a hanky. In fact, I would take a whole box. If the film is half as good as the stage production it will be fantastic.
I'm the same as BM, I have seen it many, many times on the stage and absolutely loved it. I am hoping to see the film next week and I will be taking loads of tissues!
Have just spoken to my son who has seen the stage version three times. He saw the film last night and reckons, like Jules, that the film is even better, he was raving about it.
I saw the film this week and thought it was wonderful, can't compare it to anything else, jus wonderful.
There was a lot of sniffing going on in the audience...nothing to do with colds...so a lot of people do find it very moving, I didn't personally, I just found it totally compelling.
Something else that happened is that a lot of the audience applauded, half way through and at the end, what's that all about?? I applaud a live show to show my appreciation. Given this was a film, it did make me wonder...
yes, great film, not so great singing, for me it lacks heart,
very difficult to explain, but once you know all the songs, have heard them sung by the likes of Colm Wilkinson the original Jean Valjean, and Michael Ball as Marius it's very hard to hear any one else. I know it's a big film, we did enjoy it, but to me the show is much much better.
might see it again, or buy the dvd when it comes out.
Not sure about hankies but at over 3 hours long, a Thermos full of coffee might come in handy !

thank you all. Hoping to go on Wednesday. Ive heard that audiences were giving a standing ovation and clapping. Does seem weird for a film.
