It was last executed when Islamic extremists convicted of orchestrating the 2002 Bali bombings were put before a firing squad on 8 November 2008. Earlier the same year, a man convicted of killing 42 children in an attempt to gain magical powers was executed on July 11, and on June 26 two Nigerian nationals were executed for drug trafficking, following a four-year moratorium on the execution of such sentences due to their controversy.[1]
